About this list

This list: 156 reports, strongest first. USGS · M 4.5+ · past 7 days · all reports returned. The globe also includes M 2.5+ events in its selected 24h, 3d or 7d window.

Which reports are included?

This list includes all reported M 4.5+ earthquakes returned by the USGS Earthquake Hazards Program's past-seven-day feed. The interactive globe also shows smaller M 2.5+ events. The combined /events list and feeds include up to 25 of the strongest M 4.5+ records.

How often does the information change?

This site refreshes the source feeds about every 3 minutes while in use. Agency observations and revisions follow the publisher's own schedule. Each list shows when this site last read its feed, and says when a feed has stalled; a recent read does not make an old report new.

How should I interpret these reports?

An automatic solution is preliminary: magnitude and location can still move by tenths and tens of kilometres until a seismologist reviews it, and the page says which is which. A PAGER impact level is USGS's estimate for people, not a count of what happened. USGS's tsunami flag is not a tsunami warning — those come from the tsunami warning centres.

Does an absent report mean the danger is over?

No. Coverage is limited to the linked agencies and their feed windows. A missing, delayed or archived record cannot establish that a place is safe. Follow warnings from the responsible local authorities.
